Succetti Graniti

The Succetti firm was born in 1945, when Mario Succetti started his activity by opening granite and “Ghiandone” (a particular type of granite) quarries in Villa di Chiavenna and Montespluga, namely two little villages located in Northern Italy. With 45 operators’ help and by manual fissure manufacturing they used to produce kerbs, loglines, roadside posts on the streets of Milano, Bologna and other cities; besides block made of cement, used to cover huge dams in the Alps, paving slabs for roofs, cubes for paving, tiles for roofs made of stone, fissure crazy paving and rocks for walls to build up mountain chalets.

In 1960 Mario Succetti started, together with his son Luciano, the mechanical making of marbles, granites and Beoles (a particular type of green stone) by opening a workshop in Chiavenna, in which they used to produce carved and semi-carved such as columns, pedestals, portals, gravestones, tiles, doorsteps, modular, windowsills, floors, staircases, steps, risers, footprints.

In 1973 the firm turned into a General Partnership and it was built the new cutting, manufacturing plant for marble, granite blocks and slabs. During those years the company, under Luciano’s management and with Arturo and Carolina’s contribution, namely his brother and sister, grew to such an extent that it acquired important copartnerships in companies owing quarries of “Verde Spluga Beola” (green porphyry), Dubin black (igneous stone similar to granite, as an alternative to the one from Valmasino), granite from San Fedelino and Emerald Stone (all the quoted places above are located in the surrounding area of Chiavenna, called Valtellina) . It also became a franchise holder of some stones dug up in Switzerland like grey Beola and green Andeer.

In 1991 the firm developed in a Limited Company in order to satisfy the market, which required even more complex carved such as bath tops, stone washbasins, stone showers, stone shower plates, kitchen tops, tables, small tables or desks, benches, fountains, external and internal facings, special covers and carved. Thanks to our careful arrangement, we reached today such an enviable productive quality that assures us an excellent reputation in producing carved for building construction, furnishing, home furniture, street furniture, public places furniture, assembly rooms and funerary art.

In 1998 our company started the extraction of the so called “ollare” stone (soapstone), which had been dug up in Chiavenna since the Roman times, and it began to style street furniture, bath furniture, kitchen furniture manufacturing by investing much on the made in Italy stone design. Thanks to the soapstone and its thermal features we can produce stone stoves, plates for diet cooking or healthy plate, glasses with cooling properties and other design objects. Hereby our materials: green quartzite from Spluga (Verde Spluga), grey Beola, Dubin balck, soapstone, emerald stone and granite from San Fedelino. Thanks to the above mentioned material, always excellent by the quality point of view, we have been given the chance to establish our credentials both on the national and on the international market, which 50% of our output is put towards.
